The year 1997 for the Association has re-mained full of activities. There is constant growth of membership. At present the valid members are near about 2500 and it is hoped that by the end of 1998, we will cross the strength of 3000. It is worth mentioning that there is rapid growth in the membership. The members may note that instead of becom-ing ordinary member, it is beneficial to be-come life member. This is more convenient too for the reason that one has not to worry every year to pay the annual subscription.Once the life-membership subscription is tendered, the name of the member is regis-tered as Life Member and the member′s name will be permanently registered for the pur-pose of sending circulars, journal, ballot pa-per, and other material.
During the year 1997, one more Branch, Manipur has been formed.
The activities for publication of latest Na-tional Directory of IADVL are in fast progress. With the co-operation of Fulford India Ltd., Mumbai, we will very soon get a latest directory in our hands.
Our constitution is also under the process of up-dating and we will have our latest amended Constitution by the end of this year. I am receiving the reports from the State Branches regarding successful completion of their Annual conference. Reports are encour-aging and the office-bearers of the Branch deserve congratulations and best wishes.
From the daily correspondence I am receiv-ing in my office, I have experienced that members are taking very keen interest in the sub-speciality, like pediatric dermatology, dermatologic surgery, sex-health and care etc. I have attended several State Conference and have seen that members at State level also are very active and they participate in the scientific events very enthusiastically. The preparations for 26th National Confer-ence of IADVL at Chandigarh are in full swing. Dr. Bhushan Kumar and his team members are working hard for success of the conference. I have visited Chandigarh a few days before and have noted the preparations are in remarkable progress.
It is decided to publish 2nd Edition of ′Colour Atlas of Dermatology′ by the IADVL under the chief editorship of Dr. R.G. Valia, Mumbai. Dr. Valia and his edi-torial team have started the work and within a few months, we will get the latest edition of the prestigious text-book, which will be use-ful in our daily practice.
